Shipyard, Zlate piesky

Bratislava, Slovakia
Competition 2005, 3rd.place

In what extent and how can purpose-built object of shipyard, in a periphery of a city, contribute to development of its neighbourhood? By adding of independent operations that would satisfy occasional needs of occasional visitors or even more occasional by-passers? How can one create desired context in urban-non articulated area and define a destination of repose or even cultural experience. Can shipyard with sport-club with ship / pedal boat rental and restaurant for public even dare to aspire to such qualities? What might be the key to potential success to achieve above mentioned. Might it be expressive form acting as advertisement or some sort of internal programme?
